In the very center of St. Petersburg , a short step away from Nevsky Prospect there is a nook of real Caucasian hospitality. At "Kavkaz-Bar" on Karavannaya Street they strictly follow the traditions of the Georgian people. When a guest comes it is customary in the Caucasus to arrange a meal in his honor, to slaughter a sheep and to pronounce toasts. So do not get surprised if you are received as if you were the dearest guest of the house. The restaurant interior is done in the style of a Georgian patio: traditional ceramics, goblets and horns mounted in silver, wall pictures and vines.
Georgian cuisine, spicy and diverse, not only tastes well but also looks tasty. Satsivi, khinkali, chebureks, chanakhi even these few names from the restaurant's menu flatter the ear like music, and as to their taste... In the menu there is a lot of shashliks, well-known busturma, lulia-kebab, crepinettes, harcho-tomato soup cooked to an ancient recipe, stuffed aubergines, tongue with hot garnish. Fabulous viands are seasoned with spices of the lavish south and inimitable Georgian atmosphere of generosity, which will warm up your soul and heart.
And of course the best wines from France , Spain , Chile and Georgia flow like water here and musical folklore of old Tbilisi sounds. There is no wish to leave the place, may be to the cafe only, where the prices are more democratic and there are fewer viands in the menu. But Caucasian hospitality predominates here as well, so you will by no means feel worse.
