Restoration Works

The splendid St. Petersburg has long been known as a city of facade architecture requiring capital restoration.

The "Ost-West" Association does not receive irreproachable ready-made premises for its projects. That's why, when opening new enterprises, it carries out restoration, reconstruction and repairs of buildings, which are to house the new enterprises, as well as landscaping the surroundings. Thus considerable funds very important for the city's infrastructure are being invested.

For example, substantial amounts of restoration works had been carried out by the Association before the Senat-Bar Restaurant was opened. The Restaurant is situated in the basement of the historic building of the former Senate designed by Carlo Rossi and built in 1829-1834. Before the "Ost-West" restoration works the basement of this unique building was one metre deep in water. The Association restored practically the whole basement section of the building. Very costly but necessary insulation works as well as wall reinforcements were fulfilled.

It took a year to bring the basement floor in order. However, Thanks to a very thorough capital repair, it took only half a year to Arrange the premises for the Tribunal Bar rented in the same Building. A great volume of restoration works was also carried out Before "The Noble Nest" Restaurant situated in a small outbuilding of the famous Yaupon Palace ensemble, was opened. In recent years the building housed an art school for children, then due to its dilapidated condition the building was out of use. The major part of the interior decor was lost. In the rebirth of the once elegant building the management of the Yusupov Palace headed by its first director Galina Sveshnikova assisted the "Ost-West" Association. In the course of the restoration works in the extremely damp pavilion the tumble-down walls had to be strengthened and the roof mended. The Yusupov Palace pavilion was restored in two years. It took half a year to restore and restyle the premises of the "Konusheny Dvor", where neglected vehicle repair shops had once been situated. The "St. Petersburg" Restaurant took half a year as well. Both establishments are situated in one of the most beautiful parts of the Griboedov Canal embankment beside the Saviour's Church on the Spilled Blood. The "Ost-West" Association restored the Western Gallery of the Grand Palace in Peterhof where now you will find the Gallery Cafe.

The "Ost-West" enterprises located in modern buildings, thanks to the original and high quality facade design have become the best feature of one of the less beautiful parts of St. Petersburg.
