The fate of Valentin Leonovich began with one simple but clear thought "I will find my way. If there is no ready-made road I will carve my own..." And he did it. The 'Ost-West" Association was born as a necessity. After a number of enterprises were set up, i.e. "Schwabski Domik' and "St. Petersburg" restaurants, 'Peterhof' cafe, trade houses selling clothing, it became obvious that it was necessary to expand the business and create such a structure, which could support it, create the most favorable treatment and make for strengthening the position of this business in the city. Thus the idea to amalgamate the enterprises appeared since assistance in legal. consulting, financial and security issues was needed. Therefore the Association was formed.

From the very beginning catering and trade were the priority issues of the activities of the Association; now a Lot of consideration is given to the issues of healthcare, medicine and sports. In the 15 years of the Association's operation none of its companies went bankrupt. The Association finances new projects, renders legal. auditing and marketing assistance, support to small[ and medium business. The more successful members of the Association grant credits to those who are developing.

The President of the Association is proud of his personnel; he can state that the Association has worked very hard and occupied its niche in the city. But one should not stop at the achievements, therefore new development trends are being worked out: they are construction, and production, and may be even agriculture. The Association contributes a Lot to city development, starts enterprises in the city suburbs, performs major repairs and restoration of buildings in the historical center, keeps expanding its charity actions. Charity is an insistent need for President Kovalevsky. The Association does not work with charity foundations and believes that charity support should be targeted. This support is rendered to those who are now in the hardest situation: to elderly people, mothers with children, orphanages, veterans of sports, soldiers-internationalists. With the funds of the Association the Church of the Assumption of the Blessed Virgin was built in Malaya Okhta, wide enlightening work is carried out V. 1. Kovalevsky is sure that the Orthodox faith will be the core to help the revival of Russia and will become the foundation for worthy business running. The 'Ost-West' Association is such an example.
